UPDATE: Pah! I wrote this post yesterday, but Mamma was too lazy to post it! /Kajsa
Hi, Kajsa here. Mamma is still taking a break, but I managed to get my paws on her computer. I won’t do Mamma’s weekly review (what’s the point anyways?? I want food now!), but I need to tell you about our humiliation!
We were both sitting on the sofa observing some strange behavior: (more…)
So here we go – I never wanted to write off topic posts, but bear with me: some of my wonderful readers have been asking me about my linguistic background. It’s a bit complicated, so I thought it’d be easier to write a seperate post. I didn’t write this post to justify myself, it’s just so much easier to write one post than long comments! I appreciate when you’re helping me with my English, but don’t feel obliged to do so.
First of all: Finland is a bilingual country. Finnish is the language of the vast majority, but Swedish is an official national language as well. You can read more about the Finland Swedish minority on Wikipedia.
So far, so good, but now it gets complicated. I’m dealing with 4 to 6 languages in my everyday life. 4-6? (more…)
Thank you for all your opinions on my second floor! I admit that I didn’t like them, because I wanted to give Kajsa and Tessa access to potential playgrounds. So I did something very unusual; I tried to solve a problem by asking others for favors. I talked with my landlord, and I’m so stunned: I will install a cat flap into the door between the staircase and the first cold room! I’m so happy that I asked. The doors are from 1890, and I was pretty sure he wouldn’t like the idea of cat flaps, but he said that this particular door isn’t a problem.
I decided to keep the study for myself, meaning cat-free. The second cold room will be a storage for all the stuff we don’t need and should probably throw away. So my spoiled cats will have their very own room of 35 m2 / 380 ft2!
Mamma wrote this post yesterday. Haha, she freaked out in the meantime, because Kajsa had diarrhea. Mamma is too tired to write a poop post now, but she promised to write a summary tomorrow. Urg, she mentioned some vet appointment tomorrow as well??? Check the livetickeron herFacebook page if you want to join the fun (DON’T calm her down, Kajsa and I are enjoying her nursing behavior!!) / Tessa
Dear servants to cats,
I need your help! No, for once I haven’t freaked out, and I’m pretty sure my cats will survive tonight. I need some opinions on my house.
I live in a very strange house from 1890. It’s a semi-detached house, but the house is divided in a very odd way. (more…)
First of all – I made it through, and there are 1516 of us! Congratulations to all of you! I also want to thank the hosts of the A to Z challenge – you really made a great job! I was participant number 1464 on day 1 and 1183 on the last day. I can imagine that it was a lot of work to follow up on all the participants, and to leave comments on their blogs! (more…)
The 1st of Mai is a colorful and cheerful day in Finland. Many people go out on Walpurgis Night (April 30th). On Mai 1st, we have traditional picnics in parks (regardless the weather, and yes, it’s often cold and rainy). I’ve always loved Vappu (that’s what we call the 1st of Mai). Unlike other celebrations, there aren’t any obligations, people are just gathering and having fun. I’m having difficulties with parties because of my mental health situation, but I’ve always tried to join my friends for some hours.
I bought Vappu decoration the other day, thinking that my cats would love to play with it. Well. It wasn’t a big success, but Tessa warmed up eventually.
I love to do my hair, and I’m known for my colorful hairdo on Vappu. This year’s version is quite simple (at least in comparison to the last years) and I blame Tessa. (more…)
Huh huh, so I was hysterical again. It’s funny: I’m very good with infants and toddlers. I’m known as the calm adult; the one who knows what to do, the one who doesn’t freak out. A slightly different version of myself is writing this blog. I know how to care for humans, but I’ve no experiences with cats. It’s therefore scary to be responsible for Tessa and Kajsa, and I’m so grateful for all the help I get. Thank you, 3+1 cats and Punapippuri for giving me advice on my Facebook page!
So what happened today? Tessa was coughing / gagging a couple of times, and I assumed she’s dealing with a hairball (and will most likely die). (more…)
