F as in Food. A Beginner’s Guide To High Quality Cat Food

Ok, this is a tough one. First, it’s a very controversial topic. Second, I’m close to calling the shelter and tell them that I don’t want to have cats anymore. Well, not really, but the process of finding high quality food was really time-consuming and unnerving.

Keep in mind: I’m only a beginner myself. These are just my experiences after spending many hours searching for high quality cat food. There’s tons of information about cat food, and it’s really hard to understand its components. So here are advices for beginners. (more…)

E as in Escape. A Midsummer Nightmare

cat run awayDo you remember Rachel’s cat Voldemort eh Valdo?  Turned out he wasn’t a murderer that night, but he certainly challenged my cardiac rhythm.

I was watching some TV in the kitchen. Valdo was upstairs, and I assumed that he was sleeping in my bed. After 2 hours, I became suspicious. I hadn’t heard any noise, nothing fell and no meowing for more food. I needed to check what he was doing. He wasn’t in my bedroom. He wasn’t on the attic. He wasn’t in my wardrobe. There was no one but me and an open balcony door. (more…)

My feline week

What a week! Last week was a crazy feline week, whilst I now had a crazy blogging one: the A to Z challenge started on Wednesday. It’s a lot of fun, but also very intensive. I’m reading a lot of blogs and try to come up with post titles for the letter of the day. A was for feline artwork, B for murderer in my bedroom, C for cats and computers, and D for getting things done. In short: my godchild drew a header for my blog. I believed that cats can prevent computer rage behavior, but I got very frustrated when I uploaded my new header. Voldemort was almost causing a heart attack, but at least my furniture is stable now. (more…)

D as in Done! How cats can improve mental health, part 2: Getting Things Done

An empty fridge

The fridge is cat-proof! I removed everything from the fridge and microwave. Ok, it’d be really perfect if the fridge wasn’t empty, I really need to do some grocery shopping. It’s been some days since I had a proper meal. (more…)

C as in Catified Computer. How cats can solve your IT problems

Despite the rumors, cats are not dominating 60% of the Internet. I wouldn’t be surprised if cats were spreading that rumor themselves – today the dog, tomorrow the world! Making people think they already dominate the Internet is actually a great tactical move. Cats for president!

Ok then, they don’t statistically dominate the Internet, but ever wondered why cats are nevertheless omnipresent? Neoreach reveals 5 hidden psychological reasons cats dominate the internet. (Here we go again: cats are not even among the 10 most popular topics online!) (more…)

B as in Bedroom – a murder scene

3 weeks to go!! My cats Kajsa and Tessa are having their next health check on April 21st. If the ear mites are gone, I can take them home on April 22nd – in exactly three (long) weeks!

Huh huh. So many things to think about, so many feelings involved. It’d be great if I was thinking rationally, but my brain is catified and (temporarily?) out of order. I’m so much looking forward to getting my cats! Isn’t it wonderful living with your feline friends, day and night? Uah, slow down, human! Day and night? (more…)

A as in Artwork. Drawing a header for my blog

I’m participating in this year’s A-Z challenge. You can sign up until 4/2/2015 11:59 PM North America – Eastern Standard Time if you’d like to join us! The rules are very easy:

The A to Z Challenge is posting every day in April except Sundays (…) And since there are 26 days, that matches the 26 letters of the alphabet. On April 1, blog about something that begins with the letter “A.” April 2 is “B,” April 3 is “C,” and so on.

I spend some time with my most favorite artist today – my 11-year-old godchild. She has always been a great artist; I already admired her skills when she was only 3 years old. My blog is still very young, and I don’t have a header yet. I wanted a drawing of the saying When the cat’s away, the mice will play and asked my godchild to help me. (more…)

Don’t give me a toy, I want your phone! Now.

Karin Parker from Pikku Punapippuri suggested that I could “try to engage them together in some sort of play – string and wand toys are excellent for that as they can share the fun as you wave it around for them (gently if they are nervous).”

A great idea! I bought a cat toy for the first time in my life, and Kajsa and Tessa seemed to like it.  We were all having fun until Kajsa discovered my phone. (more…)

Meet my girls Tessa and Kajsa!

getting to know my catsSo who are these girls I fell in love with? The vet assumes they’re 3-6 years old. We don’t know what happened to them. They were found about 250 km (155 miles) from my hometown. The shelter says that they’re a bit shy and need a lot of patience. (more…)

pfoetchen.wg 12My crazy feline week

Huh huh. What an emotional week! I was thrilled when I adopted two cats. However, I got very scared whether I made the right decision. I freaked out because I thought I was allergic to cats. I felt ‘pure happiness’ whilst taming my cats. I was sad when I found out that Aloe Vera is toxic to cats. I spent a lot of time shopping cat supplies and choosing cat names.

In short: the cats already own me, and I should really rename my blog to When Sanity’s Away, Hysteria Will Play. (more…)
