- Visit my parents for 1 week and get a cat sitter.
- Take my girls with me and stay for 6 weeks
6 weeks are a very long time, and I don’t know when I’ll get this opportunity again. I miss my family, and I’d love to spend as much time as possible with them. I’ll never know whether my girls are ok with flying if I don’t give it a try. If it works out, I’ll do it again. If it doesn’t, I won’t. I’m pretty sure that they’ll easily adjust to my parent’s flat: they only needed 30 minutes to feel comfortable at my place when I got them from the shelter – even though they hardly knew me. That’s why I believe that they’ll be fine as long as I’m with them.
The flight is only 2.5 hours, but it’d take us 3-4 days to travel by car, because we need to cross the Baltic Sea. The flight wouldn’t stress me if I could take my girls to the cabin. Unfortunately,
I can only take one of them with me. They’d kill each other in one carrier, but the airline promised me that they’ll be placed next to each other. I think they’re better off together, so I decided to put both of them in the hold of the plane.
I’m disappointed with Finnair’s customer service. I wanted to buy two tickets for myself, because I could have taken both cats to the cabin if I had two seats. I don’t get why I can’t: I would have paid the full price of two tickets, but Finnair would have only had one customer to serve. Furthermore, two tickets are more expensive than one ticket and two pets in the hold, and no, this flight is hardly full-booked. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any good alternatives. Air Berlin flies also directly from Helsinki to Düsseldorf, but they had the same restrictions as Finnair. Punapippuri’s Äiti had good experiences with Finnair when she shipped her cats from England to Finland, and that’s why I chose Finnair after all.
So, our summer plans are fixed. I found subtenants for my house and we’ll be travelling. OMG. What have I done?
For the record: as you probably can guess, this is no sponsored post
