Cat logic

How life with cats is really like: Priorities

Ok, replace the microwave with any other sound and change the positions, but that’s exactly the kind of blackmailing and sudden change of plans I’m dealing with.

Note: I couldn’t find a video showing only this scene. The video will (should) start at 14:03 and the scene lasts less than a minute – so no, you don’t have to watch 30 minutes to get this post.

Secrets Of Royal Sisterhood

Do you remember that we suddenly started hanging out with each other? Like some kind of cat sisterhood? When our silly human came home yesterday, she was surprised that we didn’t greet her at the door. She almost fainted when she entered the bedroom: Mom can’t remember when she’s last seen us so close to each other.

my cats become closer to each other

She had a big smile on her face for the rest of the day and checked upon us every so often – we were sleeping like that for many hours.

Now, we don’t want to say that it’s easy to make humans happy as it is hard work being so close to each other – we should get a lot of treats to recover! That being said, it is actually easy to keep humans wondering. Mom spent a lot of time finding a reason why we suddenly changed our behavior. Is it because we’re somehow “protected” by bumps? Will we eventually start snuggling with each other?

Today, she’s tried to build dens by arranging pillows and blankets under the bed-cover, and of course we’ve ignored her efforts so far. But who knows? Maybe we change our minds one day.

The origin of “It’s raining cats and dogs”

cat loves rain

What is it now? First you’re complaining that we cats don’t use the balcony, but when I do, you’re still moaning?

cat prefers rain to sun

Just because you like the balcony better on sunny days, doesn’t mean that I share your preferences. I like cold and wet surfaces a lot! Didn’t you know that cats are aquatic animals? Or where did you think the saying “it’s raining cats and dogs” comes from?

Being your cats’ foolish doorman

Hellooooo? I want to go out, but the window is closed! Mom? Meow? I want out!

Oh yes, I do know that the balcony door is open, but that’s totally irrelevant here.

I mean – is she flexible in her habits to go out? Of course not – she always uses the door. So why can’t I also have my own preferences?

Cat Logic on Closeness and Distance

What is it now? Are you surprised that we’re sitting side by side? Thought we only do that when our catsitter is around* ?

Well. We do indeed sit close to each other here, but technically, Kajsa is on the fridge and Tessa on the Grand Throne – something compleeeeetly different from sharing one piece of furniture. So don’t ask why we can’t hang together on your king-size bed; you’re comparing apples and oranges.

____

* Cats will understand, but if you’re a human reader: yesterday one was sitting on the scratch tree and the other on the laundry bin. Again – close to each other, but on different furniture. Makes total sense to us.

The cat inside a double-glazed window

My favorite spot in summer is not on our balcony.

No, that’s only something Mom would like to see. I again love that it’s warm enough to open the inner window of our double-glazed windows.

What? Just because you built a freaking catio and cat-proofed all other windows with nets, doesn’t mean that I prefer fresh air to this cozy window spot?

Now get lost and find some new hobbies. I want to take a nap.
