Confessions of an arrogant newbie. A reflection on the A2Z challenge

First of all – I made it through, and there are 1516 of us! Congratulations to all of you! I also want to thank the hosts of the A to Z challenge – you really made a great job! I was participant number 1464 on day 1 and 1183 on the last day. I can imagine that it was a lot of work to follow up on all the participants, and to leave comments on their blogs! (more…)

Weekly review – week 15 (2015) and Sunday Selfie

thoughtful catI usually review articles on cats and mental health on Sundays. My week was really busy and I tried to remember what my shrink told me: I need to slow down, so I skipped the articles.

My feline week

Voldemort’s escape was a great reminder for cat-proofing my windows. I built a customized window screen for my 120-year-old kitchen window, and I was pretty impressed about myself. (more…)

C as in Catified Computer. How cats can solve your IT problems

Despite the rumors, cats are not dominating 60% of the Internet. I wouldn’t be surprised if cats were spreading that rumor themselves – today the dog, tomorrow the world! Making people think they already dominate the Internet is actually a great tactical move. Cats for president!

Ok then, they don’t statistically dominate the Internet, but ever wondered why cats are nevertheless omnipresent? Neoreach reveals 5 hidden psychological reasons cats dominate the internet. (Here we go again: cats are not even among the 10 most popular topics online!) (more…)

A as in Artwork. Drawing a header for my blog

I’m participating in this year’s A-Z challenge. You can sign up until 4/2/2015 11:59 PM North America – Eastern Standard Time if you’d like to join us! The rules are very easy:

The A to Z Challenge is posting every day in April except Sundays (…) And since there are 26 days, that matches the 26 letters of the alphabet. On April 1, blog about something that begins with the letter “A.” April 2 is “B,” April 3 is “C,” and so on.

I spend some time with my most favorite artist today – my 11-year-old godchild. She has always been a great artist; I already admired her skills when she was only 3 years old. My blog is still very young, and I don’t have a header yet. I wanted a drawing of the saying When the cat’s away, the mice will play and asked my godchild to help me. (more…)

Weekly review – week 12 (2015)

I thought about having a weekly review on Sundays. I’ll review what happened on my and on other blogs and announce my blogger of the week. And last, but not least: I try to link to all articles dealing with cats and mental health. I’m afraid it’s a very long review this week, because this whole blog thing is so new to me. There were so many things to learn and read! (more…)

The cat is still in the bag

cat-bagNow this is embarrassing. I spent a lot of time starting this blog. I outlined quite a few postings to test if I’ve enough material for a blog. However, I somehow ‘forgot’ that you don’t know me. That you can’t know what my upcoming postings will deal with. No wonder it’s confusing what I really want to say: do I like cats? Have I decided whether I want cats? Thank you, Timmy Tomcat, for making me aware of that!

Bottom line: Until recently, I haven’t cared for cats. Ashley (and no, this blog is not about our friendship) texted me the other day: It’s funny, you were never interested in my cats and now you’ve become a crazy cat lady. This message says it all: (more…)
